Earlier communication may allow for phased deadlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Complex proposals or requests for consultation require additional time. Before you start, consider these questions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>What do you want to accomplish?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is the need for this project or research?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Who will benefit from this project?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What is your need for funding (salaries, equipment, travel)?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Start some online searches of professional organizations and associations in your field. Look at government agencies that fund other projects in your field. Check similar projects at other institutions to see who may have funded those projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"gb-button gb-button-8c954744 smooth-scroll width-test\" href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/ogrd\/proposal-preparation\/funding-opportunities\/\"><span class=\"gb-button-text\">Funding Opportunities<\/span><span class=\"gb-icon\">    <\/span><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-18021f6e alignwide\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5dba492eb618e694438908ef41daf798\"><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Intent to Prepare Submission Form <\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This form is the <em>beginning of a conversation<\/em> to explore your research\/contract activities with the OGRD. You may have identified a specific funding opportunity or have a research project\/contract idea you would like to pursue. We can help you with it all.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This form must be submitted to OGRD within 10 business days of your proposal deadline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"gb-button gb-button-c0a66b9e smooth-scroll width-test\" href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/ogrd\/intent-to-prepare-submission-form\/\"><span class=\"gb-button-text\">Intent to Prepare Submission Google Form<\/span><span class=\"gb-icon\">    <\/span><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-f2137bc1 alignwide\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7ae20e03da2d5a42e7a10e80d8f60123\"><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: OGRD Staff will reach out to get the Proposal Development Process started, as well as answer any questions you may have.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For a majority of the Research &amp; Grant Development process you are unable to continue to the next step without approval from ORGD Staff.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-6ec4426a alignwide\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-df9512de03789c42e20d0265bd9c16b1\"><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: With the help of ORGD Staff, Build your Proposal<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The OGRD can help to build templates, checklists and a proposal timeline to support you in writing and preparing your proposal. The more time we have to work together, the more help the we can provide along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"gb-button gb-button-094943f4 smooth-scroll width-test\" href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/ogrd\/proposal-preparation\/writing-resources\/\"><span class=\"gb-button-text\">Proposal Writing &amp; Preparation<\/span><span class=\"gb-icon\">    <\/span><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-10118587 alignwide\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8171962b2bce2574b32b229c7227a4f4\"><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: Work with ORGD Staff to get EWU Approval<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposal budgets are built together with OGRD staff and must comply with all university regulations and projection formulas. If OGRD is contacted with enough time before the proposal due date, we can provide proposal review and resources for most proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals are submitted under the auspices of the university, not an individual faculty or staff. The Executive Director of the OGRD is the only authorized signatory that can sign\/certify proposal submissions on behalf of the university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<a class=\"gb-button gb-button-abd196aa smooth-scroll width-test\" href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/ogrd\/proposal-preparation\/approvals-compliance\/\"><span class=\"gb-button-text\">Approvals Compliance<\/span><span class=\"gb-icon\">    <\/span><\/a>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-47a992dd alignwide\">\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-abb5e726457edb188dd4cffb24c34aff\"><strong>Step 6<\/strong>: Fill out any Compliance Forms pertaining to your Research<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Eastern Washington University (EWU) is an academic community dedicated to providing instruction in higher education, advancing knowledge through scholarship and research, and providing related services to the community. The University has the responsibility to create and maintain an academic environment that promotes freedom of inquiry and expression while protecting the rights, opportunities and welfare of students, faculty, staff and guests. Recipients may include the PD\/PI and\/or the OGRD. It is important to forward all documents to the grants office as soon as you receive them. Do not sign any documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All external grants and contracts awarded must be routed through the OGRD.
