In your academic career here at Eastern Washington University, each of your courses will provide you with a syllabus: an outline of the subjects in a course of study. A good way to help plot out your quarter is to read the syllabus and understand what is expected of you in that particular course (i.e. such as due dates, assignment explanations, and contact information for the instructor.) Some classes will also post this online within Canvas.
The sample syllabus along with the syllabus overview sheet below indicates some important information that you should look for on each of your syllabi. You will also notice that there are numbers on these samples. These numbers represent what matches what on both samples. For example, you can see the attendance policy on the syllabus overview and then identify what the policy is within the course syllabus and write it down.
Helpful Tip: remember to purchase a planner or use your mobile device to put important dates on your calendar. You don’t want to miss a due date!
