We are thrilled to announce that Brasin Benjamin, McNair scholar a dedicated undergraduate student, has been selected as a recipient of the Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) Foundation Scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission of the BECU Foundation is to encourage and administer contributions for educational scholarships, extending the credit union\u2019s philosophy of \u201cpeople helping people.\u201d Through its generous support, the foundation recognizes and promotes service in the community, as well as leadership and academic potential among its members and their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasin Benjamin is a first-generation Marshallese student majoring in International Affairs, with minors in Communication Studies and Sociology. He currently serves as President of the Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Club and is an active member of the College Success Foundation at EWU. Brasin\u2019s academic and extracurricular achievements are matched by his commitment to community service and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasin\u2019s research interests include climate change in the Marshall Islands, nuclear weapons policy, diplomacy, and the historical structures of government. Looking to the future, he aspires to a career in diplomacy and international policy, with a special focus on global security and environmental sustainability. His dedication to advocating for vulnerable communities affected by climate change and nuclear policies is at the heart of his academic journey. Through his work, Brasin seeks to contribute to scholarship and policy initiatives that promote justice, resilience, and international collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brasin Benjamin\u2019s recognition through the BECU Scholarship is a testament to his leadership, academic excellence, and unwavering commitment to making a difference. EWU TRIO McNair congratulates Brasin on this well-deserved honor and looks forward to his continued impact in the university community and beyond. Great job, Brasin!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
