Smith.<\/p>\n<p>Novella, novelette, short novel\u2026whatever you want to call them, some stories surpass the short story form but end up somewhere shy of the traditional novel\u2019s length. What makes these shorter novels different and how do they work? What might it look like to set out to write a novella or a novelette?<\/p>\n<p>Join Lambda Literary Award and PNBA Award-winning novelist Alexis M. Smith for a workshop that explores the craft of shorter novels. We\u2019ll take a look at classic and contemporary examples, discuss the stylistic and technical elements, and try our hand at the form with exercises to help along the way. Share work, receive feedback from fellow writers, and think out loud about this form\u2019s idiosyncrasies and possibilities. All experience levels and genres (sci-fi, romance, mystery, young adult, etc.) are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Meets once a week for six weeks, 1.5 to 2 hours each session.
