Auntie&#8217;s Bookstore will be there to sell copies of the author&#8217;s titles following the presentation. This event is free.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the authors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sonora Jha is the author of the novels\u00a0<em>Foreign<\/em>\u00a0(2013) and the memoir\u00a0<em>How\u00a0To Raise A Feminist Son<\/em>\u00a0(2021).\u00a0Her latest novel\u00a0<em>The Laughter<\/em>\u00a0has earned\u00a0rave\u00a0reviews\u00a0from\u00a0<em>The New York Times,\u00a0The New Yorker,\u00a0India Today<\/em>, and<em>\u00a0The Seattle Times\u00a0<\/em>and received starred\u00a0reviews\u00a0from\u00a0<em>Kirkus\u00a0Reviews,\u00a0Booklist,\u00a0Bookpage\u00a0<\/em>and others. It is longlisted for the Aspen Words Literary Prize. Sonora was formerly a\u00a0journalist covering crime, politics, and culture for the\u00a0<em>Times of India\u00a0<\/em>and for\u00a0<em>East Magazine<\/em>, Singapore. She moved to the United States to earn a Ph.D. in Political Communication. Dr. Jha&#8217;s OpEds, essays, and public appearances have featured in\u00a0<em>The\u00a0New York Times<\/em>, on\u00a0<em>BBC<\/em>, and in several anthologies. She is a professor of journalism at Seattle University and also teaches creative writing for Hugo House, Hedgebrook Writers\u2019 Retreat, Creative Nonfiction, and Seattle Public Library.<\/p>\n<p>Jess Walter has won the Washington State Book Award (The Cold Millions), twice won the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award (for\u00a0<em>The Zero\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>We Live in Water<\/em>),\u00a0and was a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize (<em>The Zero<\/em>) and the PEN\/USA Award in both fiction (<em>The Zero<\/em>) and nonfiction (<em>Every Knee Shall Bow<\/em>). His novel<em>\u00a0Beautiful Ruins\u00a0<\/em>was a #1\u00a0New York Times\u00a0bestseller and spent more than a year on the bestseller list. It was also\u00a0Esquire&#8217;s\u00a0Book of the Year and NPR\u00a0Fresh Air&#8217;s\u00a0Novel of the Year.<em>\u00a0The Financial Lives of the Poets\u00a0<\/em>was\u00a0Time Magazine&#8217;s #2 novel of the year and Walter&#8217;s story collection,\u00a0<em>We Live in Water<\/em>, was longlisted for the Story Prize and the Frank O&#8217;Connor Short Story Award. Walter&#8217;s latest is the story collection\u00a0<em>The Angel of Rome<\/em>.
