He received his MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was a Wallace Stegner Fellow at Stanford University. He is the winner of a\u00a0<i>Pushcart Prize<\/i>, the\u00a0<i>Lynda Hull Memorial Prize\u00a0<\/i>from Crazyhorse, and the\u00a0<i>Editor\u2019s Prize\u00a0<\/i>from The Missouri Review. He has received fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, the Bread Loaf Writer\u2019s Conference, the Sewanee Writers\u2019 Conference, and his work has appeared in journals such as The Kenyon Review, Tin House, AGNI, and The Southern Review.
