And they’re all gonna be great—I can vouch for the quality of most of their work, anyway—but the headliner tonight is poet Chris Howell, whose presence on the bill should be enough to get any poetry-lover in Spokane to Nyne.

Howell, much like Punxsutawney Phil, emerges about once a year, but instead of forecasting spring he reads poetry. Very good poetry. Howell has published nine (NINE!) collections of poetry, won two NEA fellowships, three Pushcart Prizes, and a bunch of other important awards, and he’s had a bunch of poems published in publications like Harper’s and The Iowa Review. Despite living in Spokane and teaching at EWU, Howell rarely reads here, so don’t miss this chance to see him live! He’ll likely be reading work from his forthcoming book due next year, so even if you’re familiar with his older work, this will probably be new to you.

Again, just for emphasis: VoiceOver is Friday the 19th at nYne at 6 p.m. Lots of great readers, including acclaimed poet Chris Howell. Good, reasonably-priced drinks and friendly atmosphere and literary bonhomie, or whatever. Oh, and last but not least, prepare yourself for the comedy stylings of hosts Elin Hawkinson and Jeff Horner. Always hilarious. See you there.

by Andrew Moreno It’s that time of the month again!
