In a new series of blog posts, Get Lit! staff members, volunteers, and community members will share what they’re most looking forward to during the 17th annual Get Lit! Festival (April 20-26, 2015). Today’s post is from Get Lit! staff member and EWU undergraduate Sam Charlton.<\/em><\/p>\n

Get Lit! is partnering with Spokane organization Window Dressings, to showcase art exhibits of two Get Lit! Festival authors\u2019 novels, The Dead Lands<\/em> by Benjamin Percy and The Sasquatch Hunters Almanac<\/em> by Sharma Shields. On April 20th, artists Kate Vida, Richard Vander Wende, and Chelsea and Tobias Hendrickson will display their artistic interpretations of the novels in the windows of two buildings in downtown Spokane.<\/p>\n

This event is going to be one of the best of the entire festival, in my opinion. Window Dressings is a newer organization to Spokane but their exhibits are always well-curated, and once you see their artists\u2019 work, you will want to see much more. Featuring Northwest artists and authors, Get Lit! and Window Dressings are supporting and showcasing local talent through these two exhibits.<\/p>\n

In terms of the books, they both sound fascinating. The Dead Lands<\/em> is a post-apocalyptic story loosely based on Lewis and Clark\u2019s journey across the west, while The Sasquatch Hunter\u2019s Almanac<\/em> is a fantastical, multi-generational tale about a family whose life is consumed by the hunt to the elusive Sasquatch.<\/p>\n

Who wouldn\u2019t want to see artist\u2019s interpretations of the world\u2019s most mythical and sought-out creature? And who wouldn’t want to see how Lewis and Clark\u2019s journey would have changed if the world would have ended before it really began? This event is not one to miss, so come on out on April 20th at 8 p.m. to sip on some hot cocoa, cider, or tea, see what these artists have created, and ask questions of the authors and artists along the way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
