DESCRIPTION:Drop in and peruse rare treasures from Central Library’s archives. This month’s theme showcases miniature books and will feature bookbinder Mel Hewitt of LibroBuch! \nArchivist & Special Collections Librarian Dana Bronson and local novelist & Writing Education Specialist Sharma Shields share a passion for libraries\, research\, and critical archival work. Join them each month as they share exciting and often surprising items from the Central Library’s Archives and Special Collections. Highlighted items might include rare books and manuscripts\, local records and photographs\, and/or maps and correspondence. \nThis month we’ll showcase miniature books including a 1904 ed. of Shakespeare’s Titus Andronicus\, a royal miniature almanac from 1848\, and The Smallest English Dictionary in the World\, and many\, many more.  \nYou can learn more about Mel Hewitt and LibroBuch here.  \nBy attending library programs\, you are agreeing to potentially appear in photos/videos taken at our locations that may be used in promotional materials including social media. \nWe strive to make events welcoming for people of all abilities. DESCRIPTION:Come enjoy or participate in an open mic night at the Garland Drinkery every Thursday night from 7:00-10:00pm. Sign up to perform spoken word\, read an excerpt of short fiction\, or something else creative. Each person will be limited to 3 minutes per performance. Please be respectful to everyone attending and know that hate speech will not be tolerated. This is a safe space for people to express creativity and community\, not belittle others.
