SUMMARY:New Faculty Workshop: Introduction to Using Backwards Design
DESCRIPTION:New Faculty Workshop: Introduction to Using Backwards Design to Develop Courses and Curricula/Setting Clear Expectations \nIn this workshop\, new faculty will learn about the concept of Understanding by Design (UBD) (Wiggins & McTighe\, 2005)\, which is also referred to as backwards design or backwards planning. This workshop will introduce new faculty to concepts that will be further developed in the New Faculty Institute which will occur 6/19-6/20/17 in the Faculty Commons. Hands on exploration of UBD will take place during this first workshop\, as well as discussion about the theoretical foundation for UBD.
