SUMMARY:Melissa Peet Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Melissa Peet Workshop \nDr. Melissa Peet\, Academic Director for the Integrative Learning and MPortfolio Initiative at the University of Michigan. \nDr. Peet will focus on helping us develop a community of practice around reflective teaching and learning and will make us aware of the existing resources that we have within our faculty and staff community. Following the open forum\, she will conduct a two-day workshop for faculty and staff involved in Project REAL\, a co-curricular record program. \nOn a national level Dr. Peet works with the Association for the Study of Higher Education\, the American Association of Colleges and Universities\, the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity\, the American Dental Education Association\, and the Council of Social Work Education. \nDr. Peet is a guest of the Faculty Commons and University College. We would like to thank the EWU Foundation for the Start Something Big grant\, and the provost’s office\, each of whom contributed funding for this event. \nThis workshop will enable participants to: \n\n\n\nDistinguish between the types of questions and prompts that help people recognize and integrate unconscious resources and learning\, and the kinds of questions/prompts that unintentionally lead people to have confusing and fragmented learning experiences;\nUnderstand how to uncover students hidden sources of passion\, resilience and motivation in order to create more engaged learning experiences; and\,\nDevelop norms for a robust community of practice that will continue to recognize and build on the vast resources\, expertise\, and strengths of its participants.\n\n\n\n\nHandout [Embodied Questions and Generative Tools Introduction] \nHandout [Introduction to Creating Integrative and Embodied Reflection Prompts] \nPowerPoint [EWU Faculty Presentation]
