DESCRIPTION:Joining us at this meeting will be Dr. Gina Petrie\, Dr. Shari Clarke\, Dr. Brian Buchanan\, Annika Scharosch\, J.D.\, \nand Deborah Danner\, J.D. \n  \nWhile it was a very small gathering at the last EWU International Faculty meeting\, it was a significant one in terms of revealing issues that came to light concerning our international faculty that may infringe upon their ability to have equitable access to resources needed for tenure\, promotion\, and retention. \nAs international faculty are currently left hanging without certain protections\, these equity issues may also contribute to diversity and retention issues. EWU recruits and hires international faculty but it appears that improvements can be made to protect the rights of said faculty members. Can language be drawn and services and protections applied to protect the rights of international faculty to ensure equal opportunities for them after they arrive on campus? \nThirty minutes will be provided to present\, ask\, and discuss issues with our invited guests. The remainder of the time will be left for group conversation and socializing. \nThe EWU International Faculty Association\, sponsored by the Faculty Commons\, meets informally on the 2nd Friday of each month from 3-5 pm. This informal association addresses the needs of international faculty members by providing a space and time to meet\, socialize\, exchange ideas\, share challenges\, receive feedback\, eat\, etc. Attendees may decide whether to have an agenda or not. Speakers and events through FC may also be scheduled according to the desires of the group. If members just want to hang out that is fine as well.
