If you mentor an outstanding undergraduate female founder, you should encourage your mentee to apply to this contest. The reason you should do so is that this business plan competition is designed to fully hone skills that undergraduate women need to advance through the entrepreneurial process from idea creation to future venture. There are multiple rounds, which include written, presentation, Demo Day, and pitch, during which students demonstrate their understanding of a or particular problem(s), why that or those problem(s) require(s) a or multiple new venture(s) to address it or several separate problems, and how those students present the best solutions to the problem(s) at hand.
The Draper Competition is open to students currently enrolled at a 2-year or 4-year accredited, not-for-profit college or university in the United States. The team leader must be a female, undergraduate student in good academic standing. The application for this competition requires team and venture information, a 2-page executive summary, and a completed Business Model Canvas.
