Usually, a punchline or a stereotype. But the reality is a whole lot more complicated \u2014 and a lot more human. In this keynote, Michelle Mowrey shares her personal journey of being diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome in her late teens, breaking down the myths, the awkward moments, and the challenges that come with it. Through humor, honesty, and storytelling, Michelle explores what it really means to live \u2014 and thrive \u2014 with Tourette\u2019s. From misconceptions to complications, she\u2019ll dive into how this syndrome has shaped her life and how she\u2019s learned to own her story, unapologetically. Join us for a conversation that\u2019s loud, a little twitchy, and full of heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Michelle Mowrey<\/em>&nbsp;serves as the Director of Student Engagement and the PUB at Eastern Washington University, where she supports student involvement, leadership development, and campus events. An Eagle through and through, Michelle earned both her Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in English from Eastern. Diagnosed with Tourette\u2019s in her late teens, Michelle is passionate about sharing her personal journey to raise awareness and foster understanding around Tourette Syndrome. Outside of work, she loves reading, working out, and spending time with her family. In this interactive session, Dr. Margaret Price brings insights from her groundbreaking book <em>Crip Spacetime<\/em>, inviting us to rethink how disability reshapes our cultural, social, and academic worlds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Margaret Price is a genderqueer femme and scholar of rhetoric, disability studies, and qualitative methods. Her book&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dukeupress.edu\/crip-spacetime\"><em>Crip Spacetime: Access, Failure, and Accountability in Academic Life<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;(Duke University Press, 2024) won the 2024&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nwsa.org\/awards-scholarships\/book-awards\">Alison Piepmeier Book Prize<\/a>&nbsp;from the National Women\u2019s Studies Association (NWSA). Her first book,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.umich.edu\/1612837\/mad_at_school\"><em>Mad at School: Rhetorics of Mental Disability and Academic Life<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;(University of Michigan Press, 2011), won the Outstanding Book Award from the Conference on College Composition &amp; Communication (CCCC). Price is co-PI of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/u.osu.edu\/transformativeaccess\/\">Transformative Access Project<\/a>&nbsp;and received a 2020 Fulbright Research Award.
