This happens most often when powders or dust are inhaled. Physical contact with some materials may cause skin irritation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/in.ewu.edu\/ehs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Art-Safety-Metal-Casting.pdf\"><u>Art Safety &#8211; Metal Casting<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; This guidance document is aimed at safeguarding the health of those who visit or work in the metal casting shops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/in.ewu.edu\/ehs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Art-Safety-Oil-Painting-1.pdf\"><u>Art Safety &#8211; Oil Painting<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Commonly used paints may contain heavy metals such as cadmium, chromium and lead. These can be hazardous to human health and the environment. This document outlines the recommended procedures for working safely with oil paints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/in.ewu.edu\/ehs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Art-Safety-Photography-1.pdf\"><u>Art Safety &#8211; Photography<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Developing photographs can bring people into contact with several chemical hazards. Best practices and regulatory requirements for working safely with these compounds are outlined in this document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/in.ewu.edu\/ehs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Art-Safety-Print-Making.pdf\"><u>Art Safety &#8211; Print Making<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; The process of making prints can expose users to hazardous organic solvents and corrosive materials. This document outlines the procedures for working safely with these chemicals hazards and how to dispose of generated wastes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/in.ewu.edu\/ehs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/116\/2023\/10\/Art-Safety-Water-Color.pdf\">Art Safety &#8211; Water Color<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Water based paints include: watercolor, acrylic, gouache, tempera and casein. Formaldehyde may be present as a preservative in these products. Ammonia, resins, heavy metals and various solvents may also be present.
