Please use this sequence to complete your final Program Plan using the online form. Contact the School of Education for: 1. Transfer course review and\/or 2. The internships meet the Eastern Washington University program requirements for offering opportunities for experiential learning. The hope is the internship may be a steppingstone for new opportunities and a potential revitalization of a current career.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-47386c3d gb-headline-text\"><strong>Before Your Internship<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Internship Information<\/strong> &#8211; Internship location must be identified by student.\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>EWU does not place students in internship locations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In addition to the work you complete at your internship location, there is an internship course with additional readings and assignments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Possible Internship Ideas:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-47f658a2\">\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Curriculum committee at a school with associated project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review and revise a subject area curriculum investigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work for a profit or non-profit to build curriculum\/programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Align curriculum to standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create assessments to align with curriculum<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conduct vertical and horizontal alignment on a content area and\/or standard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop scope and sequence for programmatic adoptions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Write and develop curriculum\/programs<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research and implement instructional strategies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create curriculum according to standards<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research student&#8217;s growth and complete data wall<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shadow administrative leader and assist with project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as a member of the curriculum committee or curriculum adoption committee &#8211; help with project<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other ideas as proposed &#8211; please contact your instructor for the internships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong>Internship Enrollment Courses<\/strong> &#8211; Students will enroll in two separate internship courses in two separate six-week sessions. You must complete Internship I before Internship II. Each internship accounts for 60 hours of working with students, reading, writing\/reflecting, meetings, interviews, actual work on topic, and assignments in Canvas. The MOA will be filled out and signed by a district\/facility representative. Candidates will identify written assignments from their courses to revise. Candidates are also required to explain, through a reflection, how these written assignments align with program outcomes. The portfolio class is accessed through Canvas modules.<\/h6>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-507b7365\">\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-4b4ec5c3 gb-headline-text\">Comprehensive Exam<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EDUC 624<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; The purpose of the Comprehensive Examination is to assess knowledge and understanding of specified core courses and evaluate whether students are academically prepared for their role in education. The Comprehensive Examination requires students to demonstrate the ability to synthesize knowledge gained from courses in the Master of Education degree program and write an academically appropriate response.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This exam consists of three (3) academic papers to be submitted during weeks 2, 3, and 4 during a 6-week session. Students will receive one question each week and have one week to complete each paper. Questions are not made available until the time of the exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The expectation for writing is 12-15 pages per question (not including the title and reference pages). Any writing over 15 pages&nbsp;<strong><em>will not be read<\/em><\/strong>.&nbsp; The expectation is a scholarly writing piece, using clear, concise words, with correct use of academic language, and APA citations (including a reference page).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will receive notification of pass\/fail result via email by the Wednesday following the end of the session. This exam is pass\/fail, but candidates must pass all three questions to receive a &#8216;Pass.&#8217; If it is deemed that the candidate did not pass one or more questions, they will have one opportunity for a retake in a subsequent session. Each question not passed is retaken at one additional credit. In this event, the School of Education will contact the candidate with information on registration for any additional comprehensive exam sessions.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-8f89de7d\">\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-4da1e538 gb-headline-text\">Graduation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-818a4bba gb-headline-text\">The final step in completing the program is submitting the Graduation Application Form. All graduate students are required to complete a Graduation Application. This form is used by EWU&#8217;s Graduate Studies Office to ensure completion of all coursework necessary for the master&#8217;s degree or graduate certificate. Deadlines for Graduation Applications are as follows:<\/h6>\n\n\n<div class=\"gb-container gb-container-17cdf04b\">\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Spring Sessions<br><\/strong>February 1<\/td><td><strong>Summer Session<br><\/strong>April 1<\/td><td><strong>Fall Sessions<br><\/strong>June 1<\/td><td><strong>Winter Sessions<br><\/strong>November 1<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-dfc6ca05 gb-headline-text\">If you miss the graduation application deadline, your degree may be delayed and your name will not appear in the graduation program.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-37435c14 gb-headline-text\">To complete your Graduation Application: go to <a href=\"https:\/\/inside.ewu.edu\/eaglenet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">EagleNet<\/a> then click on your<strong>&nbsp;Student Record<\/strong>&nbsp;tab and find&nbsp;<strong>Apply to Graduate<\/strong>.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-6b9ea982 gb-headline-text\"><strong>Commencement Ceremony<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-32664299 gb-headline-text\">Students are not required to participate in commencement; however, we encourage students to take part in the EWU commencement ceremonies held in June. To have your name included in the commencement program, the graduation application must be submitted by February 1.
