Teacher of the Month
We all have memories of a favorite teacher; someone who took the time to help us succeed, who was willing to answer our every question, who challenged us to see things from a different perspective, who stayed after school to read every last essay, or who believed in us even when we did not believe in ourselves. When a teacher gives of him- or herself, their efforts and hard work should be recognized. Every month for the past 31 years, students of the Inland Northwest have been invited to send a letter, care of EWU Department of Education, about their deserving teacher.
Congratulations to all recipients and many thanks to their students, KHQ and our sponsor, STCU. We look forward to meeting the next Teachers of the Month and their awesome students!

Say Hello to ELLO!
ELLO (Everyday Language and Literacy Opportunities) is a community research campaign out of the Education Department at EWU. The project is led by Dr. Allison Wilson (early childhood education) and Dr. Shanna Davis (school psychology). ELLO creates engaging and interesting visuals that help parents and other adults have meaningful conversations with kids wherever they are, promoting language skill development (research tells us that children need to hear millions of vocabulary words by the time they are done with Kindergarten to become good readers).
