Introducing…Summer Reading with the Diversity VP!
Dear EWU Eagles,
In the midst of COVID-19, we are challenged to utilize innovative methods of keeping us connected while we stay physically apart.
I have reached out to the EWU community the past month on topics ranging from George Floyd, to asking the Executive Leadership Team to stand with me in demanding equality and the end of racist practices including police brutality against Black & Brown people.
As the country indeed the nation continues to “wake-up” to the harsh realities of racism, we have witnessed a global movement of actions to do the right thing toward marginalized groups in society.
I am hopeful we can spend time together over the next 4 weeks reading articles and books on various diversity topics. We will keep the readings insightful and thought-provoking. No pressure at all!
If you want to join me in “Summer Reading with the Diversity VP”, I will communicate directly to the student body on a weekly basis.
We will discuss our first reading beginning on Wednesday, July 15th from 7:00 pm-8:00 pm. We will continue weekly readings with discussions held every Wednesday evening from 7:00 pm-8:00 pm.
I look forward to a shared reading experience and engaging discussions exploring a variety of multicultural topics. If you have any questions or suggestions please reach out to me at email@example.com.
If you are interested in participating, please let me know on or before July 12th. Upon receiving your confirmation of interest, Marilyn Dreis will send you the first article to read along with the information to connect to our Zoom chat room on July 15th.
