Before submitting your graduate program proposal, ensure it complies with these state and university policies.
Minimum Credit Requirement
Does the program meet Washington State's minimum credit requirement of 36 credits for Master's degrees?
See requirement at WAC 250-61-050, item 10 C.
Newly proposed graduate programs (certificates or Masters) at EWU must have credit loads commensurate with comparable graduate degree programs in the discipline at other institutions.
Comprehensive Examination
Does the program meet the requirements for the comprehensive examination and thesis/terminal project?
Coursework Requirements
Are at least 75% of quarter credits required for the program taken as graded work? Upper division courses (300-400) with P/NC grades cannot be included as part of a graduate degree program.
Are 75% of total credits at 500 level or above?
Undergraduate Enrollment
Ensure the program does not include "double counting" of undergraduate courses to the graduate degree.
"Graduate courses taken as an undergraduate may be applied to a graduate degree program at Eastern subject to the following provisions:
- Such courses cannot be applied to the student’s undergraduate education."
