Student learning outcomes (SLOs) -- which include program learning outcomes (PLOs) and course learning outcomes (CLOs) -- are the bedrock of the assessment edifice. The assessment structure needs to be built on the foundation of assessible SLOs in order to generate information on student learning that you can make sense of and use.

Faculty develop PLOS in the first step in the assessment cycle and CLOs in the second.

This page provides an array of resources to help you craft meaningful student learning outcomes for your programs and courses, including a handout of the above Anatomy of a Student Learning Outcome image.
