Step 1: How to Write a Student Learning Outcome

Student Learning Outcomes (SLO's), to include Program Learning Outcomes (PLO's) and Course Learning Outcomes (CLO's), are the bedrock of the assessment edifice. The assessment structure should be built on a foundation of assessable SLO's in order to generate usable and sensible information on student learning.

Faculty develop PLO's during the first step of the assessment cycle and CLO's during the second step.
