Transfer Students

Students walking on campus

Our advisors will help you transition from your previous institution to EWU. We'll help you understand how your credits transfer. If you're coming in as a junior, we'll get you in touch with your departmental advisor, so you can declare your major.

New Transfers

If you are a new transfer student, please see our New Students page for more information about advising at EWU. For more information about transferring, see our Transfer Student Website.

Transfer Credits

Whether you are a prospective transfer or confirmed enrollment, whether you have transferred with a few credits or with a full degree, EWU has multiple resources to help you see how your credits may transfer. A few are listed below.

Evaluating Your Transcript Expand

EWU Admissions will run a Transfer Credit Evaluation as soon as you confirm your enrollment, pay the confirmation fee and send your official transcripts. After Admissions reviews your transcript, it will be available to view on SOAR Degree Audit.

If you are a prospective transfer, your credits cannot be officially evaluated until you confirm enrollment. You can use the tools below to see how your credits may transfer.

Transfer Guide Expand

The Transfer Guide

The Transfer Guide may show how your credits transfer. If a course equivalency does not show up, this doesn't always mean your credits won't transfer; it may mean no one has transferred from your school before, so course equivalencies have not yet been established.

Transfer Major Academic Plans (MAPs) Expand

Transfer Major Academic Plans

If you are currently in community college, Transfer Major Academic Plans may help you finish as many major requirement courses as possible, prior to your time at EWU. This may help you decrease the time needed to earn your degree.

Articulation Agreements Expand

EWU has partnered with some community colleges to create agreements that make typically non-transferrable, vocational degrees transferrable into some of EWU's degree programs.

To see if your degree transfers, see our current Articulation Agreements.

Declaring Your Major

If you are transferring in as a junior, you're ready to declare your major and start working directly with your department.

Declaring A Major Expand

After you have decided on a major, it's time to declare. All undergraduates must declare a major by the time they have completed 90 credits.

To declare your major, you must meet with a faculty advisor and fill out the Major Declaration Form.

The department will turn in the form to Records and Registration, Sutton 201, or fax it to 509.359.6153.

For more information, see our Declare Your Major page.

Applying for a Program Expand

Not all departments or programs at EWU require applications, but there are a few at that do. The application process may vary between departments. Visit your department or program's website for information about applying.
