Mentorship Program and Certificate
The EWU Faculty and Staff Mentorship program is a program designed to provide a starting point for increasing awareness and inclusion of marginalized populations here at EWU. This program is not a comprehensive course on diversity and inclusion, rather it is meant to foster an environment where we as staff and faculty can ask questions of ourselves regarding how we can better serve and support our students from all cultures. We will learn about who our students are and hear from them about personal experiences at EWU.
During the course, we will discuss poverty, foster and homeless youth, LGBTQ students, LatinX students, African American students, American Indian students, and students with seen and unseen difficulties. We will also help you to connect with students whom you will mentor through the remainder of this academic year and hopefully beyond.
This course is supported by a Diversity and Inclusion grant from U.S. Bank and includes a $300 stipend for faculty and staff who are interested in completing the course and mentoring students post-course. The material in this program is available to all EWU staff and faculty.
Completion of course content and successful student mentorship are required to obtain the stipend. In addition to the stipend, a certificate will be awarded for completion of the course. This course is designed to pair with professional development here at EWU. For more information please reach out at EagleCare@ewu.edu
