EWU Advising Certificate

The EWU Advising Canvas course is designed to provide information on advising here at EWU. Topics may include advising theory, mentorship, advising tools and technology, resources for students, and some quick references and other job aides to be used while advising.

The course is designed to be self-paced and open to all staff and Faculty at EWU. There is a short assignment at the end of the course and with completion of the assignment, an EWU Advising Certificate will be awarded. The course content and writing assignment will likely take around 6-8 hours to complete. This certificate and course are designed to complement faculty professional development in the realm of student support. If you have any questions about the course, please reach out to us at navigate@ewu.edu and we will be glad to provide more information.

You can find the course here: EWU Advising Certificate

Mentorship Program and Certificate

The EWU Faculty and Staff Mentorship program is a program designed to provide a starting point for increasing awareness and inclusion of marginalized populations here at EWU. This program is not a comprehensive course on diversity and inclusion, rather it is meant to foster an environment where we as staff and faculty can ask questions of ourselves regarding how we can better serve and support our students from all cultures. We will learn about who our students are and hear from them about personal experiences at EWU.

During the course, we will discuss poverty, foster and homeless youth, LGBTQ students, LatinX students, African American students, American Indian students, and students with seen and unseen difficulties. We will also help you to connect with students whom you will mentor through the remainder of this academic year and hopefully beyond.

This course is supported by a Diversity and Inclusion grant from U.S. Bank. The material in this program is available to all EWU staff and faculty.

The Canvas course is approximately a 30-40 hour course . A certificate will be awarded for completion of the course. This course is designed to pair with professional development here at EWU. For more information please reach out at EagleCare@ewu.edu

The course will be published soon (check back often), at that time you will find the course here: EWU Staff and Faculty Mentorship Certificate
