Academic planning will help you get the most out of your time and resources, and help you reach your goals. We encourage that you meet with your advisor to set up a long-term plan. Use these resources to choose a major, plot out your degree, register for classes with confidence, and make sure you're on track for graduation.

The Academic Planner is a tool within Navigate Student as well as a worksheet. You can use an Academic Planner to make sure you will graduate on time, and to plan your classes ahead of time. The Planner also includes details about undergraduate degree requirements.

Undergraduate degree requirements depend on the academic year you started at EWU. Program and Major requirements depend on the academic year you Declare your Major at EWU. Make sure you use the Academic Planner for the correct year.

Choosing a major can be difficult, but EWU has the resources to help you make the right decision. Here are a few ways you can explore careers and majors at EWU.

Program Explorer

The Program Explorer provides an overview of each program, including sample classes, degrees offered, and career areas. Search programs by division, degree type, location and more. You can also filter programs by your skills or interests.

Declaring A Major Expand

After you have decided on a major, it's time to declare. All undergraduates must declare a major by the time they have completed 90 credits.

To declare your major, you must meet with a faculty advisor and fill out the Major Declaration Form.

The department will turn in the form to Records and Registration, Sutton 201, or fax it to 509.359.6153.

After you have declared your major, you can use the EWU Catalog to see which classes are required to complete your degree. This is a useful reference when filling out your Academic Planner or when registering for classes.

Major or Minor Requirements

The term you declare your major or minor (your Catalog Term) determines the requirements of that major or minor. When referencing the catalog for major or minor requirements, be sure to select the catalog year when you declared.

General Education Requirements

General Education requirements are based on the term you were admitted to EWU (your Admit Term). When referencing the catalog for general education requirements, be sure to select the catalog year when you were admitted to EWU.

Finding your Admit Term and Catalog Term

If you don't know what your Admit Term or Catalog Term, you can find them in InsideEWU.

  1. Login to your InsideEWU.
  2. Select EagleNET.
  3. Click on the Students tab.
  4. Under Academic Profile in the left column, select the current term from the dropdown.
  5. This will generate your Academic Profile, which includes your Admit Term and your Catalog Term.
