Self-paced Training<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Accessibility Training for Faculty & Staff<\/a> – This course is for any faculty or staff who is creating and\/or providing online content to students at Eastern Washington University. Over the course of 6 modules, we explore various accessibility concepts, including: remediating PDF files in Adobe Acrobat, remediating Word documents, remediating PowerPoint presentations, and working with closed captions in Panopto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WordPress 101<\/a> – This course provides the basic knowledge content managers require to create and manage accessible websites using the native block editor and the GeneratePress WordPress framework. By the end, you should feel comfortable in developing the content you need to maintain WordPress websites on InsideEWU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How-to Videos & Guides<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

5-Minute Mastery videos<\/a> – These brief, informative videos cover everything you need to know on the specified topics. In just a few minutes, you\u2019ll gain a deeper understanding of instructional technology and tools for accessibility and document remediation, such as: Ally, Adobe Acrobat, and Panopto Recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fresh Service Guides<\/a> – The IT Service Guides contain numerous articles about accessibility, instructional technology, and common campus IT questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Media Guidelines<\/a> – This Knowledge Base article contains information about accessibility for Social Media posts on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identifying Accessibility Issues<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ally Report<\/a>– Ally is an integrated tool in Canvas that scans course pages and files for accessibility issues. Instructors can view Ally reports in their course [they are not visible to students]; Deans and chairs can view their area’s Ally reports in Tableau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Popetech Report<\/a> – Popetech is EWU’s web accessibility checker. Pages built in WordPress are scanned and errors are reported in the Popetech report which can be accessed in Tableau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WAVE Plugin<\/a> – The WAVE plugin is a helpful tool for web developers. This tool does a real-time scan of site errors on the page being viewed in the user’s browser and allows them to identify errors. This can be helpful when troubleshooting errors or when reviewing remediation efforts as the Popetech report is updated weekly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WCAG 2.1<\/a> – Created by the World Wide Web Consortium, WCAG 2.1 is the currently accepted international standard for web accessibility.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
