Two former students established a scholarship fund to honor a professor who means so much to them, they asked him to serve as the officiant at their wedding.
Anna Dvorak was an assistant professor of geography and geographic information systems at EWU when she tragically died in a climbing accident in Idaho’s Sawtooth Mountains in 2015. To help finish what she started at Eastern, the Department of Geography, Anthropology and Planning organized a memorial fund in her honor.
For many women, making a life-changing commitment to pursue higher education for herself or her family is a challenge she cannot complete alone. Two friends and EWU alumnae want to honor women for their hard work and diligence in seeking to enhance their lives.
Eastern made the decision early this academic year to move all fall classes, including finals, fully online after the Thanksgiving/Native American Heritage Day holiday break.
I truly want to thank each of you for the grit you’ve demonstrated throughout this term. As a community you’ve also shown tremendous grace and patience with each other as we navigate together through online working and learning and COVID-19 restrictions.
