2019 Events

Welcome Back Brunch

The MCC welcomed back students and staff to the winter quarter with a brunch in the new PUB.  Great opportunity for people to use the new kitchen!

Tunnel of Oppression

A deep learning experience covering topics such as disabilities, gender identity, trans phobia, domestic violence, and racism.  This event impacted many people and will be annual during every winter quarter.

Women in Academia

The MCC gave the great women who work at EWU a chance to speak about their experiences and challenges in their life.  Getting to hear them speak opened the eyes of many and gave others a chance to think about things that they haven’t had to think about in their life.

Story Slam 2

Our 2nd Annual Story Slam was based on the topic of Justice and it was filled with emotional, funny, and impacting stories.  This popular event will take place in the Spring quarter of the school year.

Cultural Kickback

The Multicultural Center and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion partnered up to kick off the new school year with a “kickback.”  It was a welcoming event in front of Showalter with delicious refreshments and students bonded and built relationships.

Homecoming Game Watch Party

The Multicultural Center ended Homecoming week with a watch party live stream in their center!  It was a very cold Saturday and students gathered up in the MCC to watch the EWU Eagles football team defeat the University of Northern Colorado.  Students watched it on the big screen as they enjoyed their wings, pizza, cookies, soda, and other snacks!

Multicultural Festival 2

We had our annual Multicultural Festival in the campus mall once again and had another huge turnout of over 400 students/faculty.  There was plenty of performances, food and music and students really enjoyed it again this year.

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Another one of our popular annual events, but this year had a much higher turnout.  Students gathered around the library as staff members of the Multicultural Center named every transgender person murdered in 2018 alone along with an emotional speech.  After the speech students gathered in front of the library with candles and we had a moment of silence for each of the murdered individual.
